This is our vehicle for the trip, a 1993 Toyota Liteace. We have various nicknames, banana girl, flying blaa, golden liteace…but ‘the van’ seems to be the only name sticking at the moment!

We spotted it in Northern Ireland just as it was about to be crushed in a scrap yard because the owner thought noone would ever love a yellow Toyota Liteace…no actually thats not right, a family who were travelling in the van and broke down begged us to take it off them for a good price so that they could buy a bigger van….we won it in a raffle…a raffle of yellow things….for the yellow foundation…to cure people of yellow diseases…
No matter how we came to own it. It is ours now and we pray to God that it will guide us safely across to our destination and that the cracked leather seats will not hurt our bums.
We have built some pretty cool storage at the back which will be used to store fuel, tools, water and the like.

WOW, that’s some transformation. Just checking up on how things are going. Seems you’ve had your work cut out for you Larry! But I have to say, that I miss the old yellow road sub, but I know its been taken care of as it should be.
Your not leaving from Belfast anymore I’ve noticed? I was hoping to grab some new photos of you three (including the van in that), guess I’ll just have keep coming back to the site to keep updated.

Hi Darron, great to hear from you! I’ve had nothing but ‘auld lads commenting on the liteace “she’s a grand clean one!”. We had to change our plans re the Belfast launch as the guy organising it had to pull out of the rally, so we’re heading for Rosslare instead!
Keep in touch
Larry
